the bird is currently on hiatus!
as of right now i'm taking an extended hiatus for my mental health. i'm exploring other interests (including learning enough html to code this very website you're on right now!) and taking care of myself so i can come back to making art more regularly feeling refreshed and more inspired.

i'm a big fan of gouache. my recent pieces during my hiatus have been referenced from photographs, mostly for the overall composition and general color scheme. i'm not trying to directly replicate them branch for branch. i hate drawing backgrounds and landscapes digitally but i have a lot of fun with it traditionally, and have the total opposite problem with figures. so why not combine the two? the foggy spooky vibe from my reference image was something i knew i would only be able to half capture traditionally with my current skill set, which led to the idea of adding in some details and a little friend digitally.

so obviously my names not bird, you can call me mo.
i'm an illustrator living in colorado. i love nothing more than drawing a moody portrait with dramatic lighting. there's so much that you can do with a portrait. a picture says a thousand words and i think a portrait can say at least a thousand more. generally i prefer to work digitally either in procreate or clip studio paint, but recently i've been getting back into traditional painting with gouache.
outside of drawing i'm teaching myself basic html and css, i like to knit and crochet, and recently i've been getting into journaling! i'm a big star wars fan, i just watched andor and it blew my mind and you should watch it too!
